Concealed Weapon License Original Application

The Concealed Weapon License Application service provided at our Main Office is designed to allow an applicant to complete the entire application process quickly and conveniently. Applications submitted in our office are pre-screened for completion prior to their being forwarded to Tallahassee; ensuring that application errors or omissions are corrected to prevent processing delays. First time applicants may determine eligibility by reading eligibility requirements.

Please bring the following items/documents with you, to our office for processing:

  • A picture ID. A driver license or state-issued identification card is acceptable.
  • A copy of a training document or other certificate that confirms you are proficient with a firearm.
  • A personal check, cashier's check, cash or money order in the proper amount. You may also pay by credit card or debit card (a 3rd party convenience fee will apply).
  • If you were ever arrested, please provide certified copies of the court documentation reflecting the final disposition of the charge(s) filed against you.
  • If you were born outside the United States, or if you are a permanent legal resident alien, please provide official documentation that confirms your citizenship status.

What will happen once I arrive at your office?

First, a staff member will direct you to a computer station where you will complete an on-line application form (please note: it is not necessary to complete an application form in advance of your appointment). Once you have completed your online application, it will be reviewed for completeness and notarized. The final steps will be to take your photograph and electronically scan your fingerprints.

How long will it take for the Department to process my application?

By law, The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services must either issue a license or deny an application within 90 days of receiving a complete application. However, the actual turnaround time will ultimately depend on the workload facing the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services employees in Tallahassee and may be substantially less than 90 days.
